A Man's Man.

So I'm feeling pretty good about myself for hitting the gym regularly, eating more foods that are more healthy (not necessarily healthy mind you, just more healthy) and having a good wrestle with the dog every night. I might even go so far as to say that I'm feeling a bit man-lier than normal.

And then I read this in the news:

"NAIROBI - A 73-year-old Kenyan grandfather reached into the mouth of an attacking leopard and tore out its tongue to kill it, authorities said Wednesday...."

Some days, you just can't win.

Family Fun Time!

This is what's hidden behind the trees at the corner of Duluth Highway and Riverside Parkway. Eerie cool.

Random Compliment.

Adding more fuel to my mustache-mania fire, a friend of a friend in Phoenix had this say about the 'stache: :...oh by the way, i showed Emily your pictures and she ( who hates facial hair) said your mustache is 'handcuff me and lock me up' sexy..." Now THATS how you pay me a compliment.

Nostalgia for the 'Zine.

Ok, indulge me. In the past two weeks I've had all sorts of random little reminders about Shimmerzine, my first musical endeavor in Atlanta. A friend says they listened to an old CD. Someone recognizes me from my old days at the Q. An old band photo falls out of the liner of my guitar case. Who knows what this means if anything, but I still decided to post some music out there for you folks who never heard us play. Who knows, maybe it's time to start playing again in general. Since I won't be traveling, I might actually have the time.

The Blue Van...

Here's your assignment: Listen to The Blue Van and then go cut your hair in a Prince Valiant. How is it that Scandanavians do rock n roll so well?

Um boss, is this thing on?

Damn. The right side of my brain has been running on FLAT empty the last two weeks. I've sat down a number of times and just stared at the monitor. I've picked up my camera, looked through the view finder and seen... well, nothing.

A wise creative writing professor from a former life once said that writing was like working out. Even when you don't want to, feel like you can't, or are just plain bored -- keep doing it. Sometimes, writing just for writing's sake is enough.

So this is me, sitting with Boris in a partially empty house (Nat packed her stuff and high-tailed it back to the city... that's a story for another day though), not wanting to write and feeling unmotivated to take pictures. Writing for the sake of writing. Taking pictures for the sake of taking pictures. Asking Boris in more way than one: "It's just you and me kid. What side of the bed do you want?"

Outlook Avalanche.

Wow - I can't believe I haven't had the time to write anything lately. I'm happy to report that I got a promotion at work that has resulted in two things: 1) I don't have to travel anymore. 2)My work load has increased dramatically. I suppose it's a case of "out of the fire into the fire". I promise I'll write more on the weekend, once I gather my thoughts.
