Andrew Wyeth :: Public Sale

Do paintings emit pheromones? I wonder.

After an afternoon at the High Museum, visiting the Andrew Wyeth exhibit, I'm left with the impression that walking through an art gallery is akin to walking through a crowd off attractive women. Each women posseses beauty in her own way; a singular curve of the neck; fire burst eyes; the sweeping metronome of hips over heels. Similarly, each painting is (technically speaking) beautiful. Pin point technique; visceral content; sublime nuance.

Yet, like the mysterious attraction to one woman and not another, one painting will pull you in with silent hooks as you pass the rest by.

I was taken with Public Sale. Maybe it's the truck. Maybe it's the body attitude of the man in the cool hat. I suppose it could be morbid curiosity. Who's public sale is it? Did someone die? Has someone been forced out of the community for some ill-fated life choice?

Or.

Do painting have pheromones? I wonder.

I have the same feeling,
but not so much in a room full of beatiful women,
no...
mine is when I enter the Ghirardelli
Choclate store..

each delicious little truffle
perfect in it's own little truffle universe
made by tiny hands
filled with tiny truffle cream hoses
wrapped in tiny
little truffle foils.

"Oh I want to eat you all...it's almost as if choosing a single truffle would be invalidating the next."

Then you see the one!!
Your eyes lock from across the room...

It's on the Milk/Double Crunch/Cherry Stuffed/No Nuts row...
and you know,
YES YOU KNOW...
those arean't going to make it home.

Chocolate definitely has pheromones.

Matt, Happy new year. remember me. I'm Gun-il from Seoul Accenture office. I joined your RPAS training session in Hongkong last year. I've just thought of your site after I was a bit frustrated with not being able to contact you via accenture mail. Pls let me know your mail address

maybe. maybe pheremones for our own auras? that would make sense, no? just lovely, btw.

The biography of N.C. Wyeth (David Michaelis) is one of the best books I've ever read. It really made me want to know even more about the Wyeths. The talent that runs through that bloodline is simply amazing.
